i also need (additional) help with firefox. It still hangs at times although not as much or as long. also my quicktime plugin will not work in FF. To rectify both problems, I've...
- created a new profile
- uninstalled and reinstalled FF and quicktime
- search forums for these problems and they have not helped.
- scanned and cleaned my pc with antivirus and adaware.

I'm wondering if it is something else.

i'm having other issues, like my preferences aren't sticking with my adobe software.

could my hardware (harddrive) be going out. i've had this pc over 7 years.

Not impossible, but seems that you may have problems with other programs if that were the case. Sometimes your bios will have a hard drive test utility you could run...

That's why i'm guessing faulty hardware. firefox hangs no matter if i change profiles or uninstall extensions. my photoshop loses its preferences and settings after i change them. and when i shut down, it takes forever asking to end certain background running apps (mixer?). i recently reinstalled windows in january and it has slowly given me problems. i'm debating on whether to break down and have a new pc built for me with vista.

Thanks for the link to FireFox.:redthumb: I live in the country and can't get DSL and I'm stuck with dial up. I was ready to push my computer in the floor with explorer 7. Everything loads a lot faster on FireFox.:cheers1:
